Akhaura  is an Upazila of Brahmanbaria District in the Division of Chittagong, Bangladesh.Akhaura Upazila with an area of 99.28 km2, is bounded by Brahmanbaria sadar upazila on the north, kasba upazila on the south, Tripura State of India on the east and Brahmanbaria sadar upazila on the west. Main river is Titas. It is a historical city for both WWII and Liberation War of Bangladesh. This place also hub of transportation in Bangladesh. Akhaura is a Municipality City with an area of 2.35 km2 and population 32435; male 50.43%, female 49.57%. It has 9 wards and 23 mahallas. Literacy rate among the town people is 78.59%.

Administration Akhaura thana, now an upazila, was established in 1976. The upazila consists of five union parishads, 107 mouzas and 225 villages.
